For almost two decades, Bonfire Racing has been in the business of dominating the desert. Founded by Bill Markel and his passion for racing, the team has been pursuing excellence since its inception. While their current focus is on ATV events, Bonfire Racing has seen success on virtually any machine tough enough to handle the rough landscapes of the American South West.

It all started in 1994, with a 7s truck and a burning desire to win. Over the next several years, Bill earned multiple class championships in the 7s truck series and the class 1 buggy series, Bill quickly put Bonfire Racing on the local racing map. The team’s racing success quickly drew the attention of a high profile and nationally televised organization called Championship Off Road Racing (CORR), where he placed 10th overall in the 2007 ProLite standings.

In 2008, due to CORR’s unfortunate demise, Bill shifted the team’s focus to the ATV circuit. Only six days after purchasing his first quad (a Raptor 700), he claimed his first victory on the new vehicle. With such promising results in its debut ATV race, it was obvious where the team’s future needed to be. From ‘09 on, Bill claimed even more titles; including the 2010 Alta Vista Event “expert” class championship.

Today, Bonfire Racing can be found building on their strong tradition of championship caliber off road racing. Bill is currently the reigning champ, and current holder of the #1 plate, on the AMA sanctioned district 37 “expert” class circuit and he has absolutely no intention of letting it go. The team has strong plans for the future, including 25 plus weekends of racing planned for 2012 divided among several of the most competitive ATV circuits in the South West. Even with its already impressive past, Bonfire Racing’s future looks to burn even brighter.
